I am often captivated by a beautiful sunset, and truth be told there are a lot of great paintings that capture the beautiful shades of color as the sun disappears below the horizon. However most of these are facing towards the sun, and for this piece, I decided I would try to recreate what you see when the sun is behind you. The sky shows cooler, more subtle shades of color, while the sun’s warm light really pops on whatever it hits. The peace and calm seen in this summer scene helped spark the title “Serenity”
