GUNNISON CROSSING

-SOLD-

For my money, there are few places that beat the rugged beauty and inspiring grandeur of the Rocky Mountains.  In southern Colorado, in the San Juan Range, there is a small town called Lake City.  Interestingly, while most native Coloradans have never heard of it, we come across Texans all the time who have, and in fact, some who vacation there or even have houses there. The natural beauty all around is indeed inspiring, and I soaked in as much as I could on my last visit. Just outside the town is the Gunnison River, a high mountain stream winding through thick forests and deep valleys.  When I saw this bend in the river and the light playing through the trees, I knew there was potential for a painting. Adding in the elk making his way across the shallows brought everything together in a piece that really brings me back to the Gunnison.
