Summer Cypress

After essentially spending a year away from painting to begin teaching art, this little landscape holds a lot of significance for me. Not only was it a chance to get back into oil painting, but I was able to start this one plein air (outdoors). This kind of painting is challenging, and I wasn’t sure it was a good idea to attempt after so long a break. But the beautiful location near Uvalde, TX provided plenty of inspiration, particularly the prominent cypress overlooking the farm pond.
